Passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s in Saginaw surrounded by his family, He was 75 years old. Lyonel Ernest Moore was born on August 21, 1947 in Van Kleek Hill, Ontario, Canada to the late Lawrence and Ruby (McDonell) Moore. He was employed by General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 2006 after 41 years of service. Lyonel was a member of St. Dominic Parish - Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years.
Lyonel enjoyed hiking, fishing, and traveling out west. He also enjoyed collecting classic cars and history of the old west and the frontier. Lyonel was known as a meticulous tool and die maker with an eye for detail. He will be remembered for maintaining a pristine, park like yard. What Lyonel really loved most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a compassionate, kind, gentle, and caring man who would lend a helping hand to anyone.
Surviving are his children, Melissa Sprague and Bradley (Jennifer) Moore, and their maternal sibling Melanie Sharkey-Friemoth who he was fond of; grandchildren, Brandon Powlus, RaeAnn Sprague, Lauren Sprague, and Jordyn Moore; great-grandson, Keith Dennis; sister in-law, Victoria Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Lyonel was preceded in death by his two brothers, Joseph Guy Moore, Earl Thomas Moore; his son-in-law, Dennis Sprague Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension St. Mary’s, Compassus Hospice, and the care staff at New Hope Valley for the care they provided to Lyonel.
FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at St. Dominic Parish – Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Committal service to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery in Saginaw.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A time for sharing will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, or Michigan Cardiovascular Institute Pulse 3 Foundation.
