Thomas J. Deisler
Former President, Owner and Manager of Deisler Funeral Home
Tom is a fourth-generation licensed funeral director, working in the funeral industry for over five decades. Born and raised in Saginaw, he worked side by side with his father, Edward G. Deisler Jr., until his passing in 2016. Tom served as the firm’s owner, president, and manager until selling the business to Mark and Andrea Fischer of Fischer Funeral Home in October 2024. Tom is grateful that the funeral home continues to be family owned and operated, continuing its history that began in 1888, marking more than 136 years of service to the Saginaw community.
Tom is a 1972 graduate of St. Stephen Catholic High School and a 1981 graduate of Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science. Tom became a licensed funeral director in 1982 and owner and manager of the funeral home in 1989. During his years at the funeral home, Tom started a grief support program, developed to assist families during the difficult period of adjustment that follows death. He also mentored students wishing to become licensed funeral directors, supported local charities, and enjoyed sponsoring numerous local Little League teams.
Tom kept his commitment to both family and the community by keeping the funeral home a family run business when choosing Mark and Andrea Fischer to continue the Deisler legacy of service to families with respect and dignity. Tom looks forward to the fresh ideas and new perspectives that the Fischers will bring to the funeral home.
Tom and his wife Lori have been married since 1981. Together they raised three children: Ryan (Jennifer) Deisler, Andrew (Ashley) Deisler, and Jessica (Jon) Meyer and are now enjoying six grandchildren, Bode, Smith, Cameron, Rory, Eliza and Edward (Teddy). Tom is a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4232, Sons of The American Legion Post #439 Saginaw, VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post #1859 Saginaw, Michigan Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
Tom continues to serve as an integral part of his family's business as an advisor and licensed funeral director emeritus.
