Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, September 17, 2022 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab in Saginaw. He was 91 years old. Walter Robert Krass was born on May 3, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Henry and Lydia (Kabobel) Krass. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1949. He married Marjorie Ann Dommer on February 24, 1990 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hemlock. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2021. Walter enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and proudly served his country as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was employed by Travel O Homes Corporation as a foreman, retiring in 1981 after many years of service. Walter was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hemlock where he served as Deacon and president of the school board.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and woodworking. Above all, Walter loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are one daughter, Dawn (Daryl) McPhail; grandchildren, Ashley (Craig Selby) McPhail, Melissa McPhail, Shelby McPhail, Jamie McPhail; niece, Terri (Dan) Chrenka.

Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road, Hemlock. Pastor Philip Loescher will officiate. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post # 7302.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road, Hemlock on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
