Obituary of Stephen V. Pagano

PAGANO, Stephen V. of Midland, Michigan formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2012 at his home. Stephen V. Pagano was born on November 3, 1918 in Saginaw to the late Lucas and Josephine (Martuch) Pagano. He married Mary Jane Rosser, his wife of 26 years, on December 23, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1968. Steve later married Fern M. (Linabery) Moore on February 27, 1972. She survives him. Steve was a World War II Veteran, serving four years in both the States and the European Theater. He traveled across France and Germany, and was in charge of the 81mm Mortar Squad. For his courageous duty Steve received many honors including a Purple Heart and four Bronze Battle Stars. Steve was a factory representative for The Bassett Furniture Company until his retirement in 1974. After retirement Steve and Fern moved to Las Vegas and he worked in real estate. They moved back to Michigan in 1981. He was an avid bowler for years, until his age forced him to quit. Steve enjoyed watching all types of sports on television, especially hockey, baseball and football. His last remarks were: "I've had a good life, some ups, some downs, but all in all I'm ready to meet my maker." Surviving are his loving wife, Fern; children: Terri (David Stupnicki) Pagano, Sharon Ott and Jim (Margaret) Moore; two grandchildren: Tiffany (Richard) Roberts and Christopher Moore; and a great-grandson, Aiden Moore. Steve was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Ott; a sister and two brothers: Florence Kissane, Angelo Pagano and George Pagano. Steve's family would like to thank Mid-Michigan Hospice for the wonderful care and support that was provided during Steve's time of need. FUNERAL- Steve's Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate. Committal and Military Honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens conducted under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 1859. VISITATION- Friends are welcome to visit with Steve's family at the Deisler Funeral Home on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS- Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Mid-Michigan Hospice.
