Obituary of Thomas A. Barr

Our loving father, brother, fiancé and dear friend passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was 79 years old. Thomas Angelo Barr Sr. was born on June 4, 1941 in Saginaw to the late Robert Law and Frances (Marino) Barr. Tom attended St. Andrew High School, graduating in 1959. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Tom worked for General Motors as a semi-truck driver for over 37 years. He was a member of the Saginaw Field and Stream Club. He won trophies for Bow and Arrow shooting. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing with his buddies and playing golf. Tom is survived by his fiancé, Diana Meyers; children: Thomas Barr Jr. and Anthony Barr Sr. step-children: Todd (Wendy) Meyers and Tracee (Tony) Gillespie, 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, siblings: Betty (Alex) Card, Nina (Jim) Steep and Angelo (Margaret) Barr and 18 nieces and nephews. FUNERAL: A private funeral service for Tom will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 12:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). For those that are unable to attend the funeral service, you are invited to join remotely by going to the following web address; the service will begin livestreaming at approximately 12:00 p.m. https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/9730226 Burial and Military honors under the auspices of the United States Navy will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends will be present at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the Saginaw Field and Stream Club or the Dementia Society of America.
