Obituary of Virginia Jean Fisk

FISK, Virginia Jean (nee Hart) of Saginaw, Michigan passed away at the Holt Senior Care Center in Holt, Michigan, where she received wonderful care, on Friday, September 14, 2012 after a short illness. She was 86 years old. Virginia Hart was born in Saginaw on February 10, 1926 to the late Michael James and Wilma (Slinkard) Hart. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters degree from Central Michigan University. Virginia was a dedicated Michigan teacher for 38 years with most of that time spent with the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools as a fourth grade teacher at Fancher Elementary. Besides teaching, her passion in life was reading, and she spent many happy hours reading on the beach in Oscoda at the family cottage. Virginia was best known for her big smiles, sweet nature and happy outlook. She supported many good causes during her life such as Save the Children and the East Side Soup Kitchen and was a loyal member of the Democratic Party. Virginia was also a "pie lady" for the St. Peter and Paul's funeral luncheons. Virginia will be greatly missed by her children: Kay Howell of Saginaw, MI, Ed (Joanne) Letourneau of Madison, WI, Patricia Zaeske of Holt, MI; and her devoted twin sister, Doris Hart of Tawas, MI. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by her sister, Joan (Bill) Kiessel of Mentor, OH; her brother, Richard (Joyce) Hart of Delta, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers: Irving Hart and Father Harry Hart, both of Saginaw. Following Virginia's wishes cremation has taken place. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 West Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate. Rite of committal will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to SS. Peter and Paul Church.
