Obituary of Lois Jean Veremis

Lois Jean (McMillan) Veremis passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the age of 92. She was born May 1, 1928 to Leo and Lois (Arnold) McMillan in Ferndale, Michigan. Lois grew up on the family farm in Freeland and attended Phetteplace Grade School through the eighth grade and continued her education in Midland graduating from Midland High School in 1946. She continued her love of learning at local colleges, studying a variety of subjects. Lois Jean married Robert Veremis on April 14, 1951. He preceded her on May 19, 1987. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Hugh A. McMillan and wife Jan, and brother Don L. McMillan. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Nick (Pam) Kreh Veremis of Saginaw, MI and Galveston, TX., William (Linda) Veremis of Appleton, WI. Granddaughter Dionna (Jeff) Raithel, great-grandson, Sebastian of Los Angeles, grandson, Alex Veremis, CA., granddaughter, Lindsay (Evan) Perrault, and great-grandson, Hudson, of Lafayette, IN. Step-grandchildren Dominic (Michaela) Kreh, Benjamin Kreh, and Sarah Kreh. Step-greatgrandchildren Dominic and Delphine Raithel, Sloane (Nick) Peden, Desmond, Deacon, Dane and Stevie Kreh, Georgia Kreh. Step-great great grandchildren Dallas and Phoenix Peden. In addition, she is survived by her loving sister, Phyllis McMillan Ault of Freeland, MI.; sisters-in-law, Pat McMillan of Freeland MI and and Shirley Veremis of Saginaw, MI; along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Lois so enjoyed spending summers in East Tawas at the Veremis family cottage and winters in Sarasota, FL walking the beaches, watching the beautiful sunsets, observing the beauty and glory of nature as well as many of the cultural opportunities offered. Lois always made certain that family and friends visiting had a wonderful time. She was a role model for social grace when gathering with either friends or strangers, focusing her entire attention on the conversation and always ready with an insightful question and never stingy with her delightful laugh. Lois Jean spent many years as a volunteer at Saginaw General Hospital and enjoyed working as a realtor. Due to the current health crisis, the family will have a private Requiem Mass and Internment. At a future date, a memorial gathering will be planned to celebrate Lois's life. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wounded Warriors or a Charity of your choosing.
