My Uncle Don was a kind, well-mannered individual who always remained curious about the world. He was one of the few people I know that when he asked how you were, it wasn't out of politeness or habit -- he really wanted to know how you were. I will always remember the conversations we had over coffee talking about life, family, technology, culture -- he could talk about anything -- and there seemed to be no end of things he wanted to learn about. I especially enjoyed the wonder he experienced and expressed in learning about new things -- it made the world feel all the more magical in that moment. He also valued hearing other people's points of views and opinions -- it just made the world all that more interesting.
It is a sad day that Uncle Don is no longer here -- he is the last of his 13 brothers and sisters to leave this world for whatever is next. The reunion he must be experiencing right now with his parents, brothers and sisters at his side... one can only wonder. The legacy that he leaves behind -- his kindness and curiosity -- is something the world clearly needs more of.
