I am so very sorry to hear of Joanne's passing. I would have been at the service but I just heard yesterday. This lovely lady was my first grade teacher at Hemmeter School. She was there for me when at that young age to teach me that sometimes you can't control what happens in life, and to put an arm around a child that needed a hug, I will always remember that day. I will never forget the times I would visit her at her home on Bay Road and then later at her home in Lathrup Park. She allowed me to babysit her oldest child and share in her excitement of becoming a mother. Over the years I would see her occasionally and she was always warm and remembered me. She always made me feel special as only she could do. I am so very sorry for your loss, she was one of a kind, beautiful both inside and out. You will be in my prayers, Love, Lori Hanson Kennelly

I became friends with Joanne and Tom in the past few years. They were a beautiful couple, wise and wonderful and so full of love. They helped me learn the power of agape. They taught me about kindness without effort and they helped me look within in order to discover a rich landscape of human potential. I love you, Bo White.

She was one of my very favorite people in the world. She and Tom have been dear friends of our family for as long as I can remember. Joanne was always there to share in our greatest trumps or during trying times. I will always remember you fondly Joanne.

Joanne was a beautiful woman, inside and out--talented, warm-hearted, and brave. She was also a gracious hostess and our family still remembers the beautiful party she gave for Meg and Kevin when they were married. Although I unfortunaely didn't hear about her many friends in "Team Joanne," she has been in my prayers for years and Tom and her grieving family will remain in them as they adjust to living without their "center." I've sent a donation in her memory to Su Casa Catholic Worker, a warm-hearted shelter in the South Side of Chicago that she would have loved.

Please accept my most sincere sympathy. I did not see Joanne often these past years, but I have so many fond memories of her and the family when I was growing up. She was always kind, cheerful and had a wonderful laugh.
I loved her love of music and appreciated that gift even more as I became involved in the opera world. Joanne"s eyes would shine with excitement whenever talking about some wonderful opera or choral piece..in particular I remember her enthusiasm when we discussed Verdi's Requiem.
She was a woman of many talents and gifts and a brave soldier as well. I know you are all going to miss her very much.
Please know you are in my thoughts, heart and prayers.

My condolences, I know the last few years have been very challenging and difficult, i hope you all find some comfort and solice in faith and the warm memories, thoughts and orayers of family and friends.
Joanne has now joined that great heavenly chorus and is probably advising and helping all the other members of the angelic chorale to really sing out ! Whenever i saw her, we always shared oir mutual love of music and opera and caught up on family happenings. She kept her thoughts on others and her spirits high, which i know was challenging given her illness.
