Olivarez, Consuelo (Flores) of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper with her family by her side. She was 81 years of age. Consuelo Flores was born on February 8, 1934 in Sabinal, Texas to the late Tomas and Adella (Gomez) Flores. Connie was a very hard worker with perfect attendance, serving as a dietician for 27 years with St. Luke's Hospital (Covenant HealthCare). She was faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their Women's Club. Connie enjoyed working with crafts, especially attending craft shows and crocheting. Throughout her life Connie was a fashionista, always looking beautiful and dressing impeccably. Truly put, Connie was a classy and elegant woman. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Connie had a special place in her heart for birds, owning many during her lifetime. Little House on the Prairie was her favorite TV series, but she also could be found watching her Cowboy/Western movies. She was an avid Detroit Tiger's fan and was happy to attend many of their home games. Connie was a gifted cook, preparing many wonderful meals for her family over the years. She was a fun woman and enjoyed dancing. Connie was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was active for every birthday, holiday and family gathering during her entire life. She lived and dedicated her life for them, along with embracing many nieces and nephews. Connie was truly a selfless soul and will forever be remembered for her undying love and compassion. Surviving are six daughters and three sons: Adella (Mark) Clark of Ravana, Juanita Santoya of Grand Rapids, Rosa (Peter) Kleinebriel of Birch Run, Mario (Nelsy) Olivarez of Grand Rapids, Tomas (Lisa) Olivarez of Saginaw, Maria (Jotiar) Joundi of Saginaw, Susana (Tirso) Estrada of Grand Rapid, Irma (Michael) Leal of Saginaw, and Emilio Olivarez, Jr. of Grand Rapids; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Flores. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Connie will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Connie's honor.
