Obituary of Allen L. McMall

McMall, Allen L., Sr. of Gladwin, formerly of Saginaw, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at MidMichigan Medical Center- Midland following a short illness. He was 90 years old. At his side was his life companion of 26 years, Darlene Teachworth. Allen was the first born son to Elmer and Effie (O'Dell) McMall on October 18, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born, grew up and raised his family in Saginaw. He was a semi-truck driver all of his life. After retirement he moved to his cottage on Wiggins Lake in Gladwin. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of Teamster Local 486, American Legion, a life member of the Moose Lodge 82 of Saginaw and the Eagles 3292 of Gladwin. Al and Darlene spent winters in Florida and traveled the world. They enjoyed their "Coffee Bunch" in Gladwin and visiting the casinos.
Surviving besides Darlene, Al leaves three children and their families: Susan (Bob) Brechtelsbauer, Denise (Brian) Klosterman, and Gary (Beth) McMall; seven grandchildren: Blair and Brandi Brechtelsbauer, Lindsey (Kevin) Pike, Nicole Klosterman, Brandon (Christa) Klosterman, Alex and Sara McMall; two great grandchildren: Jensen and Alexander Pike; two brothers: Howard (Nancy) McMall and Floyd McMall; Darlene's children: Steve (Kathy) Abbott, Butch (Karen) Abbott, Rick (Cheryl) Sherman, Ben (Terri) Ewald and their families. Also surviving are many extended family and friends especially, Bob and Mable Beam, Smoke and Lil Fisher, Jack and Dode Oliver, and Tom and Suzie Schramm.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McMall and a son, Allen McMall Jr.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Cheryl Mancier will officiate. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
