LEVI, Virgil A. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 96 years old. Virgil A. Levi was born on September 21, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late James and Mary Levi. After Virgil graduated, he proudly served the Army Signal Corps and the United States Air Army Corps during World War II from September 23, 1941 until his honorable discharge on November 30, 1945. Later, he was the co-owner of the Levi-Spadafore Insurance Agency and later, co-owner of both the Raymond-Levi Insurance Agency and Sundquist Travel Agency. Virgil was a great fan of the University of Michigan and the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. Further, Virgil was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Surviving are nieces: Jo Ann Gardner, Patricia Freeman, Mary Kay Vincent, Sally and Joseph Hale, Mary (Levi) and Joel Tessin and nephews: Alan Jan (and Sherry) Levi and James Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anita M. (Levi) Spadafore; and brothers: George A. Levi and Arthur C. Levi. Warmest thanks to the doctors and nurses at Covenant Healthcare - Harrison ICU and Dr. Brian Pope of South Carolina for their care, concern and expertise. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. 48601. Rev. Fr. David J. Jenuwine will officiate. Rite of Committal will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State).
