I understand this is supposed to be written, more heart-felt, sorrowful memories of Helen, but I'll bet she'd prefer stories of the more sarcastic, humorous parts of her personality.Out of pure love for my Aunt Helen and her family, I won't delve deep into that, I'll just touch lightly on a couple of stories I remember:: We had an old cabin on Long Lake, with an old dock extending 12' - 15' over the rocky bottom. Out of Nowhere, you could hear this banshee-like, scream so loud it was popping ear drums!
Helen, pure white (Helen?), had her hands clenched in her her, mouth completely agape while screaming, because....... there was a leech on her foot. That's right, she would've died that day if my brother, Rec didn't get some salt to shake on the leech. WHEW!
There is this women's clothing boutique in downtoen Alpena.they sell a variety of pieces you won't find, even down state, Helen, Ann (when she's in town),my cousins, all go there because of the uniqeness and sales. After THEY leave, and I stope in thee, I always hear Ellen Gould, Owner, and several employers talk about some of the craqy patrons that wre in the store.I HAD to ask what they were doing???? She always said othing wrong, but always acting like teenager, laughing, jokinig, and "the one onlder woman was SO funny, the entire store was laughting"!! Yes, I did admit they are arelated to me! The store and employees love them all and are happy to see them come back in,
Here was a woman that loved (I'm assuming) Carlo Rossi Rhine Wine (.Did anybody, with active tastebuds, ever REALLY taste that??? EWW) Whever she came up to my mother's, or to the cottage at Lake Avalon, she had a big green gallon of that "wine', and several different bages of chocolates!! That must be genetic: My father always said that I loved chocolate with my beer just like my mom, EB.
I could go on and on about eccentricities, actually, endearments, about Helen. Those little ones mean nothing, ( they mean a lot to me!) but I mean there is so much to Helen, and I don't like to think her recent illlness and everyone's sadness. ..
She was a very caring, loving, humorous, CHARACTER. :)

On May 19, 2012 our families reunited to support Glen Charles during the Memorial Service for his mother. Who ever could have imagined that on April 24, 2013 within 1 hour, in two different parts of Michigan, we would lose our mothers. It is almost too much to fathom. We now have major parts to play to console CJ and Glen William. Two little boys who grew up together and married the women who they knew as two little girls. Let's get "the boys" together this summer.

To the Lockwood Family:
I haven't known Helen long but have been forever blessed to have had her in my life. We come in contact with people daily as we live our lives; some just drift through and others leave a lasting impression and both Helen and Cj have done that for me. I will always be touched by their eternal love for one another and should I say their little but of spunkiness they had. I have been thinking the last few days of the times Helen and I would just talk about everything and anything and then thankful for the times when I just sat and held her hand, At this time remember for her vivaciousness and vitality she had and she left this world loving everyone of you with all her heart. God bless you and keep you near in the difficult times ahead. Sincerely, Cyndi Loudenslager-Spaun

Dear Sharon,
I can't be there to give you a hug, but I want to share a wonderful hope that I have that comes from the Bible.
(Revelation 21:3,4) "?With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4?And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
Also (Hosea 13:14) 14?"From the hand of She'ol I shall redeem them; from death I shall recover them. Where are your stings, O Death? Where is your destructiveness, O She'ol? .?.?.
And (1 Corinthians 15:22) ?For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive.
These and many others verses reassure us that "[our].?.?.dead ones will live. A corpse of mine—they will rise up. Awake and cry out joyfully, YOU residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of mallows, and the earth itself will let even those impotent in death drop [in birth]".(Isaiah 26:19)
Please know that you have my sympathy. Please relate that to your family also.
Love to you, Kay Martin

A letter from Heaven:
When tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your
eyes, filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry,
the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you,
And each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart.

Our sincere condolences to the family of Helen Arlene Barrie Lockwood. May you be strengthened and encouraged to know that God will provide much comfort to you in the days ahead as you cope with the passing of your loved one. We are encouraged by His words at Revelation 21: 4 which says of our future hope: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Jehovah has also given us the hope of a resurrection at John 5:28 where He says "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." May the friends and family be comforted during this time of great loss.
