Bob, Kathy and I traveled in Alaska in summer of 1990. That was the first time I spent an extended time with Bob and the 3 of us had a great adventure. We discussed ways to avoid bears on our hikes and who would do what if we surprised one. We bought mosquito nets to protect ourselves from the clouds of mosquitoes. We were generally the only ones not in a camper, spending time outside amongst the insects and critters. Bob and I discussed meals with each other because Kathy seemed to be rationing food either for dietary or budgetary reasons it wasn’t clear. We saw bear, elk, moose, eagles, and yes whales. We flew on a small plane and landed on a glacier near Denali National Park. It was a great trip and I always remember how Bob was in his element watching the animals, birds, and beautiful scenery.
