Passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at Traditions of Saginaw. She was 90 years old. The daughter of the late Paul and Mercedes (Rodriguez) Lopez, Rose Maria was born on January 10, 1934, in Saginaw. She married Jose Garcia on April 5, 1954, in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2003. Rose was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral. She enjoyed many years working in the school cafeteria, and watching her children grow and engage in school activities. Rose also enjoyed hosting Bingo at the Cathedral. She served by her husband’s side as the secretary of the American GI Forum. Her heart and concern always were with the care for her family and her Lord, and was a current member of St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rose loved music and connecting with her heritage through Mexican music. She loved animals, including many cats and dogs throughout her life.

She is survived by her four daughters and three sons, Linda (Neil) Slagle, Tina Coscarelli, Joseph Garcia, Jr., Ana Garcia, Ava Kilchermann, Vincent (Norma) Garcia and Eduardo (Minerva) Garcia; 15 grandchildren: Simon (Ellen), Sean (Eleana), Maria, Rose, Duvalier, William, Alex, Miguel, Joseph, Viviana (Evan), Victoria (Chase), Sandra, Angelina (Michael), Regina and Alejandro; many great grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Lopez and Juan (Julie) Chavez; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her daughter, Liza Garcia; grandchildren: Francisco Martin Garcia and Adam Vicente Torres Garcia; siblings: Margaret Cirilo, Virginia Garcia and Alex Chavez.

SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy for Rose will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603 on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A time to share special memories will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
