Our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 6, 2024 at his residence. He was 53 years old. Jose Gutierrez was born on February 19, 1971 in Flint, Michigan to the late Jesus and Eva (Ramos) Gutierrez. He graduated from Mt. Morris EAJ High School. Jose was employed as a painter for many years, retiring in 2018. He was a member of New Beginnings Ministries in Saginaw for several years.

He had an eclectic taste in music, loving all the different styles of music. Jose also loved watching movies, wrestling, football, soap operas, and playing video games. He enjoyed collecting comics, especially Spiderman. Jose was a wonderful cook (especially his fried chicken) and liked cooking for others. He relished the time he spent with his uncles, playing cards and having a couple cold beverages when possible. Jose was delighted that he made peace with himself and God and was excited to share that with others. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren whom he was so proud of and his niece and nephews.

Surviving is one son, Alex Gutierrez; grandchildren, Alex Jr. and Rae-Lynn Gutierrez; mother of his child, Sheila Thompson; siblings, Jesus Gutierrez Jr., Lydia Tomkinson, and Juan Gutierrez; two nieces, Isabella Gutierrez and Amelia Barker; three nephews, Carlos Gutierrez, Justin Tomkinson, and Dominic Barker and extended family and friends.  

Jose was preceded in death by his grandparents, numerous uncles, and his nephew, Vincent Gutierrez.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: A Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Cremation has taken place.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service 6:00 p.m.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials the family to assist with funeral expenses c/o Alex Gutierrez.
