In Loving Memory of Elvia Ortega, age 73 passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 with her family by her side. Elvia was born in Sebastian, Texas on January 12, 1951 the daughter of Jose and Manuela (Avila) Rodriguez. She graduated from Springvale Academy in Owosso, MI in 1969. Elvia was united in marriage to Jesus B. Ortega for more than 30 years in Green Bay WI; he survives her. Elvia worked for many years at Kitchen Fresh Foods in Green Bay, WI. She also cleaned homes for the elderly and cared for them. Elvia was a translator for the Hispanic Community back in Wisconsin. Elvia was always known for her open door policy. She loved helping people; whether it was making food, volunteering at the church soup kitchen, getting them clothing or just being there for them. Elvia will also be remembered for her love of children; she was the surrogate grandma to dozens of children. But most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be dearly missed.

Elvia is survived by her husband; Jesus, two daughters; Amy (Richard) Camero, Sr. and Tammy Trejo, four grandchildren; Richard Camero, Jr., Nathaniel Trejo-Tate, Amaya Camero and Aliya Trejo-Woodley, four great-grandchildren; Nathalia, Sinella, Montello and soon to arrive, Nathaniel Trejo-Tate, Jr., 4 siblings; Ana (Francisco) Camarillo, Joseph (Linda) Rodriguez, Yolanda (Abraham) Rodriguez and Rosie (Julian) Vivaldo, mother; Manuela Rodriguez, dear friend, and father of her children; Sam Trejo, her extended family from Green Bay, WI; Tammy, Michael and Maypa and their families, her best friend; Lucy Cruz and several nieces and nephews. Elvia was preceded in death by her father; Jose A. Rodriguez.

The Ortega family would like to thank St. Francis and Davita Dialysis on Bay Rd. and Compassus Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

FUNERAL: A funeral service for Elvia will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Saginaw, Michigan 48603 with Pastor Steve Rodriguez to officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM and again Wednesday Morning from 11:00 AM until the time of service.

MEMORIALS: We kindly ask in lieu of flowers, please consider donating funds to assist with the cost of the funeral arrangements. We hope to carry out all of Elvia’s loving wishes.
