DOOZAN, Matthew “Matt” T. of Holland, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 3, 2024, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 37 years old. Matthew Thomas Doozan was born on July 20, 1987 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to Denise (Huron) and the late Mark A. Doozan. Matt attended St. Helen’s Elementary School and Carrollton Schools and graduated from Carrollton High School in 2005, Magna Cum Laude. He enjoyed running track, cross country, and basketball throughout his high school career. Matt worked at Runners Athletic Company, and was a General Manager for five years. He also participated in the local road races, and he ran on Runner’s Athletic Elite Team. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He moved to Holland, Michigan in 2010, working for Tennant Company as a manufacturing supervisor. Matt’s true love was fishing, hunting and carpentry. He was an all-around fixit guy. Matt had an opportunity to work his dream job as a Charter Boat Captain and obtained his Merchant Mariner License. He worked for Powderhorn Sportfishing Charters in Holland and then West Michigan Charter Fishing in South Haven. Matt was a member of the Safari Club International and Fishing with Veterans. Matt was the family jokester but always was the one to give of himself to others that needed assistance.

Matt is survived by his son, Thomas Doozan; mother, Denise (Victor Gomez) Doozan; brother, Andrew (Sylvia) Doozan; long-term girlfriend, Katie Krajniak; Thomas’ mom, Sydni Guerra; nieces: Leah, Olivia and Vanessa Doozan; life-long friends: Tony and Staci Curtis and their children: Tony Jr., Vinny and Breezi Curtis; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his dad, Mark A. Doozan; grandparents: Thomas C. and Carolyn (Rocha) Huron and Carl and Shirley (Lovay) Doozan.

FUNERAL: Matt's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth St. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with Matt's family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State) on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Matt will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

A Celebration of Life service will also be held on the Westside of the State to honor Matt in the fall. Those details will be available when the arrangements have been finalized.
