Obituary of Eddie G. Montalvo
Montalvo, Eddie G., age 93 passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, July 30, 2024. Eddie was born April 24, 1931 in San Antonio, TX, the son of the late Esequiel and Delores (Guerrero) Montalbo. After graduating High School, Eddie proudly served in the United States Army. He was part of 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper and served during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to the former Erlinda Lomas. She preceded him in death. Eddie retired after 42 years from General Motors Malleable Iron.
Eddie was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church; where he always looked forward to attending. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 22 and the VFW Post 1566.
Eddie enjoyed being outdoors and doing yard work. He loved animals, going on fields trips, and exercising. But most of all he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Eddie is survived by his daughter; Diana (Paul) Hickey, grandchildren; Jason Cirilo, Joseph Cirilo, Gabriella Wagner and Madeline Hickey, one great-grandson; Eli Cirilo, mother of his children; Tomasa Cirilo, stepchildren; Rick Cirilo, Sylvia Cirilo and Tammy Carrillo, brothers and sisters; Beatrice Gonzales, Theresa Delgado, Rachel Rosales and Rudy Montalbo and many bonus children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife Erlinda, Eddie was preceded in death by a stepson; Domingo S. Cirilo Jr., Esequiel Montalbo Jr and Hortencia “Mica” (Reyes) Munoz.
FUNERAL: A funeral Mass for Eddie will take place Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. Saginaw, MI 48601. Fr. Richard John and Fr. Marc Hopps to co-officiate. Committal service to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery along with Military Honors, American Legion, Post 22.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Saginaw, MI 48603 on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 2:00-8:00 PM with a Vigil for the deceased at 7:00 PM, officiated by Deacon Roger J. Pasionek. Visitation will continue at the church Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
MEMORIAL: Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Holy Family or St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
