Obituary of Robert Jess Tomlin

Robert Jess Tomlin age 89 years, passed away peacefully Friday, July 12, 2024 at Great Lakes Rehab Center, Saginaw, MI. Bob was born the son of the late William and Miriam (Brasington) Tomlin on March 29, 1935 in Alma, Michigan. After graduating from Alma High School, he continued his education at MSU where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Bob married Shirley Rogers and had 3 beautiful daughters. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Bob had a successful 40-year career with Super Foods/Nash Finch until his retirement in 2000. Bob was joyfully united in marriage to the former Kathleen Bernath on October 23, 1981; she survives him.

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 439 and Maple Hill Golf club; where he golfed for over 33 years. Bob enjoyed golfing and traveled to golf courses all over the United States in his 70 years playing the sport. He was also an avid bowler who was in many leagues over the years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; Kathleen, children; Kimberly Heath, Sheila (Tim) Riley, and Bobbie Jo Stierheim, grandchildren; Jesse, Bobby, Joshua, Lyndsey Jo, Kayla, Jared, Lauren, Abigail, Erin and Liam, several great grandchildren; brother, William Tomlin and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by daughters; Katerina Schramke and Christina Lauzon.

FUNERAL: A Memorial service for Bob will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Deisler Funeral Home.
