Obituary of Virginia Lynn Darnell

Darnell, Virginia “Ginny” Lynn age 66, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Brookdale Saginaw with family at her side. Ginny was born June 17, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of the late Darwin and Betty (Jacobs) Shreve. Ginny graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in 1975; where she met the love of her life, Thomas Darnell. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1978 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan.  

Ginny was a longtime member of the Women’s National Farm and Garden Association; which allowed her to volunteer countless hours at the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center. She also was extremely involved in volunteering her services to any organization she was passionate about. Ginny enjoyed gardening, golf and bowling.

Ginny is survived by her loving husband; Thomas, son; Thomas Darnell, Jr., sister; Maureen Shreve and aunts; Karen Jacobs and Ann Ruppel and several cousins. Besides her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by a sister; Kathy (Terry) Hugo, brother in-law; Bob Darnell and mother and father in-laws; James and Rosalie Darnell.

Ginny’s family would like to thank Brookdale for all their love, care and support given to Ginny and her family during her stay.

FUNERAL: A Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Dominic Catholic Church-St. Stephen’s site with Fr. Steven Gavit to officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. Saginaw, MI 48603 and again Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
