Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Westendorf, Judith “Judi” A.

Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Bickford of Saginaw Township. She was 84 years old. Judith Ann Felder was born November 7, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late Paul L. and Margaret A. (Schoen) Felder. She married Garth R. Westendorf on January 4, 1957 in Saginaw and was married 65 years. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School.

Judi brought out the best in the people around her. Selflessly, she greatly loved her family and community. As a school librarian, she spent her career doing two things she most enjoyed, impacting the lives of children and reading. She was an avid church volunteer, the best card player at the table, and could often be found relaxing with her knitting and crocheting in the evenings. She made everyone feel special and that they were the only one in the room. Judi spent many fun filled years vacationing with her husband Garth in Bar Harbor, Maine and at their cottage on Springwood Lake, which they had built together. They were a duo that brightened everyone’s day. Judi had both a sharp wit and a caring smile. Her kindness and intelligence were matched only by her humility. She was an example to live by and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her.

Surviving are her daughters: Stephanie (David) Porath and Marianne Vega; grandchildren: Meghan (Brent) Haag, Gregory Porath, Eric (Kristin Schroeder) Porath, Hannah (Phillip) Smith and Zachary (Raquel Torres) Vega; great-grandchildren: Ayden, Mason and Cooper Haag, Colton and Camilla Porath, Shep and Brody Smith; sister, Barbara Ruff; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Judi was preceded in death by her husband, Garth R. Westendorf; parents, Margaret and Paul Felder; son, Matthew Westendorf; sister, Annette (George) Coulman; brother-in-law, Ken Ruff.

Judi’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of Bickford Assisted Living and Transitions Hospice.
