Cooley, Charles M. “Charlie”

Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving husband, father, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Edgewood Assisted Living surrounded by his family. He was 72 years old. Charles Michael Cooley was born on September 26, 1951 in Jackson, MI to the late Dr. Charles W. and Margaret (Thiesen) Cooley. Charlie made many wonderful memories, spending time on the family farm throughout his life. The farm was a very special place for all of the Cooleys. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1970, and then attended Eastern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technologies. He married his high school sweetheart, Marsha L. Wagar, on September 6, 1975 in Jackson, MI. Charlie moved to Saginaw and started his career as a Medical Technologist with Saginaw General Hospital on July 15, 1975. He was a faithful employee for 40 years, specializing in chemistry, and retiring on July 15, 2015 from Covenant HealthCare. Charlie was a member of the Saginaw Field and Stream Club and enjoyed hunting, shooting, archery, woodworking and Ham radio.    

Charlie was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife, Marsha; children: Jason Charles Cooley and Matthew Michael Cooley; brother, Geoffrey (Karen) Cooley; sister-in-law, Judy Cooley; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. His Cooley gentleness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Randy and Peter Cooley.

SERVICE: In keeping with Charlie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Rollin Green will officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
