Obituary of John Peter Maul

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Peter Maul

Fort Meyers, Florida (formerly of Saginaw, Michigan)

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on December 8th, 2023, with his dear daughter, Rebecca (“Becky”) by his side.  David and Charlotte (Shadt) Maul welcomed John into this world on August 10th, 1927.  John was raised in Saginaw, where he attended Arthur Hill High School.  After high school, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.  After the service, John married the love of his life, Joanne Beatrice Tenney, on June 9th, 1951.

John and Joanne built deeper roots in Saginaw, where they would raise their seven children.  With the help of his brothers: Dave, Pete, and Jack, John constructed three different homes to keep up with his growing family.  He also enjoyed landscaping with his brothers, sons, and nephews.  All this was done after working a full day at Consumers Power Company.  John retired after nearly three decades of dedicated service to the company and its many customers.

John and Joanne retired to Fort Meyers, FL, where he could dedicate more of his energy into perfecting his golf swing.  He would also gladly give you tips on how to improve yours, solicited or not.  In addition to his love of family and sport, John was devoted to his faith.  He was a devout and committed believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who he served all of his life.  His Christian friends were not only companions in the faith, but also akin to family.

John is survived by his caring daughters: JoEllen (Anthony) Provenzano, Leah (David) Blenkhorn, Rebecca (Bernard) Rogoszewski and daughter-in-law Andrea Maul; he leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a cherished sister-in-law, Barbara Kuchinsky.  John was preceded in death by his treasured wife, Joanne, his four robust sons: Dennis, Gary, Steven, and Michael as well as his adored grandson, Jacob Maul.

A private service will be held at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to the Saginaw Rescue Mission at https://rescuemidmichigan.org/donate/  Please share your thoughts and memories through Deisler Funeral Home, www.DeislerFuneralHome.com
