Our loving father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. He was 95 years old. Martin Harvey Smith was born on February 7, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Frank and Minnie Pearl (Church) Smith. Bud attended school in Saginaw and then proudly served his country with the United States Army, receiving a World War II Victory Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bud returned to Saginaw and started working at U.S. Graphite. He retired after 30 years of service. Bud’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, enjoying board games, cards, watching sports and keeping busy.
Bud is survived by his children: Sandra “Sandy” (George) White, Linda Blank, Roxanne (Tom Rush) Losee, Mark (Kimberly) Smith; step-children: Phillip Lagalo, Paul Lagalo, Diane (Lonny) Browne and Donna (Jason) Mitas; grandchildren: Tina (Chris) Seeger, Tammy (fiancé, Jim Turbush) Straight, Jason (Melissa) Straight, Tim (Liane) Parasiliti, Tom (Courtney) Parasiliti, Andrea (John) Grzemkowski, Lisa Losee, Heather Losee, Jacob Smith and Samantha Smith. Also surviving are many great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Smith and Gloria McHenry Lagalo Smith; son, Bill Martin Smith; son-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Blank, Gary Losee, Mike Straight and Rod Smith; and granddaughter, Angela Parasiliti.
FUNERAL: A funeral service for Bud will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Scott McIntyre will officiate. Committal prayers and military honors under the auspices of the United States Army will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
