Obituary of Ramiro S. Herrera Jr.
Herrera, Jr. Ramiro “Ray” of Saginaw, Michigan passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s of Saginaw; he was 68 years old. Ray was born on November 1, 1955 in San Antonio, TX; the son of Ramiro L. and Teofila (Sanchez) Herrera. He was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline D. Serrato on Nov. 15, 1975 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Saginaw, MI; she survives him.
Ray worked for Dow Chemical retiring after 35 years. He was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church; where he volunteered in many facets. Ray was a member of the Saginaw Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, swimming, traveling and working on his cars. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ramiro will always be remembered as being a “man of his word” and always there for his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Jacqueline; two children, Monic P. (Antonio) Herrera-Garcia and Ramiro S. (Leonard Hernandez III) Herrera III; two granddaughters, Sabella and Sabrina Garcia; one brother, Eugene (Sonia) Herrera; two sisters, Maria Teresa (Faustino) Torrez and Mary Helen (Javier) Serrato; sister in-laws, Esperanza “Hope” and Sylvia Herrera; special friends, who were always there for him, Mr. and Mrs. Santiago and Mary Mejia and Mr. and Mrs. Angel and Olga Valles and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Antonio and Felix Herrera.
FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Ramiro will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Adam Maher to officiate. Committal services to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State St.) Saginaw, MI 48603 on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services. A Vigil service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
