Obituary of Clayton Leonard Dey, Jr.
Dey, Jr. Clayton “Clay” L. passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at the age of 72 with his family at his side. Clayton was born on January 27, 1951 in Saginaw, MI the son of the late Clayton and Marilyn (Bernthal) Dey, Sr. Clay graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1969. He then went on to continue his education at Delta College. Clay was united in marriage to the former Sandra Bostwick on August 11, 1973; she survives him.
Clay was a longtime member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and had a very strong faith. He retired from General Motors after working for more than 30 years. Clay enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing and just being outdoors. He loved watching Notre Dame Football. But most of all he loved his family; he would do anything for them. Clay will be remembered for his sense of humor and his delegating.
Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra; children, Tammy (Andrew Wilson) Inman, Phil (Kelly) Dey and Nick Dey; grandchildren, Scott Inman, Jon Inman, Ludkhana Inman, Deanna (Brandon) Davis, Blake Dey, Nathan Greenwood, Chelsey Dey, Kara Greenwood, Abby Dey, Cameron Dey, Zane Dey, and Rozlyn Dey; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Oliver Davis; brothers and sisters, Judith Knopic, Laura (James) Pache, John (Andrea) Dey, Elizabeth (Daniel) Doud, Justin (Jean) Dey, Andrew (Kathy) Dey, Jeanette (James) Oswald, Anita (Khaled Soubra) Dey, and James (Janet) Dey; brother and sister in-laws, Sue Dey, Sally Grimm, Sue (Dan) Needham, Sharon (John) Super, Sarah (Matt) Sopcak, Robert (Tricia) Bostwick, Russell (Kelly) Bostwick, Richard Bostwick, Ron Bostwick, Roland (Irene) Bostwick, Raymond (Kelly) Bostwick and Randy (Beth) Bostwick; aunt, Lucy Laarz and numerous nieces and nephews. Clayton was preceded in death by brother and best friend, Timothy Dey; sister, Marilyn Dey, two brother in-laws, John Knopic and Henry Grimm and father and mother in-laws, Russell and Susanna Bostwick.
FUNERAL: Clayton’s funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at St. Dominic Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Saginaw, MI 48638. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate with committal service to conclude in St. Andrews Cemetery.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again at the church at 10:00 a.m. A Vigil for the deceased will take place Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
