Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023 at Covenant HealthCare – Harrision surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. Alvin Wilbert Reichard was born on December 12, 1933 in Saginaw, MI to the late Martin and Ottilie (Bickel) Reichard. He attended Arthur Hill Trade School. Al married Theodora “Teddy” M. Calopisis on July 5, 1958, and she survives him. He worked for Mitts and Merrill in Saginaw as a Draftsmen for over 20 years. Al also worked for General Motors and then Lab Corp. retiring in 1998. He honorably served with the Michigan National Guard and Army Reserve. In his free time, Al could often be found tending to his yard, hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching the Lions and Tigers games or enjoying a bowl of ice cream with family.
Al had a wonderful sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his wife, Theodora “Teddy” M. Reichard; children: Karen (Mike) Rozniak, Laurie Reichard (Dean) Granger, Ron (Cathy) Reichard and Kristina (Mark) Mueller; grandchildren: Christopher (Suzanne) Rozniak, Justin (Sarah) Rozniak, Daniel (Sarah Oberson) Granger, Shannin (Nate) Tausch, Brandon (Corrine Abrego) Reichard, Ryan (Brian Noland) Reichard, Joshua Mueller, Haley Mueller and Nathan Mueller; great grandchildren: Abbie Rozniak, Lucas Rozniak, Oliver Tausch, Evelyn Granger and Jameson Reichard; sister, Shirley Elvin; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim (Marilyn) Calopisis and Teresa “Kitty” Calopisis; several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Martin (Ruth) Reichard Jr. and Frederick (Joyce) Reichard; brothers-in-law, Richard Elvin and Paul Calopisis; sisters-in-law: Georgia Steele and Mary Bursick.
SERVICE: In keeping with Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Road, Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Amy Terhune will officiate. Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Private inurnment and committal prayers with be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
