Obituary of Michael Clarence Leddy
Leddy, Michael Clarence “Uncle Mike” age 89
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend was called home to heaven by his Savior Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison, Saginaw, MI. Mike was born on August 5, 1934 in Saginaw, MI the son of Michael and Harriett (Price) Leddy. He was united in marriage to the former Arvilla “Sugar” Tack on May 20, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him.
Mike graduated from Hemlock High School in 1952. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. serving during the Korean War. While in the service he trained as a paratrooper and he also chauffeured many officers to and from the Pentagon, Quantico, VA and to where ever they needed to go in Washington D.C.
Mike retired from General Motors in 1991 after 25 years. He then went to work with his son starting Leddy Landscaping and continued to work until the time of his passing. He was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 7302, Hemlock, MI. Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors around the pool especially with his family and coaching little league baseball, when his children were young. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sugar; children, Rebecca Leddy, Michael (Colleen) Leddy, Jeffrey (Jo) Leddy and Patrick (Dorothy) Leddy; 9 grandchildren, Joey (Becky) Mouch, Adam Mouch, Rachel (Drew) Hart, Matthew (Kasey) Leddy, Jessica (Eduardo) Gonzales, Jeff Leddy Jr., Travis Leddy, Ashlie (Jeff) Todd, and Erica (Ryan) Fisk; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters in-law; Maxine Leddy, June Leddy, Mary Tack, Nancy Schanbergen, Cathrine Acker, and Helen (Tim) McMahon; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister, Lawrence, Elsie, John, Herb, Tom, Ed and Dale.
A special “Thank You” to the staff of Covenant Harrison 7 Main, Ed and Tammy Flattery, and Pastor Joshua Becker.
FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Christ Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Rd. Saginaw, MI 48609 with Pastor Joshua Becker to officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the VFW Post 7302.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at Christ Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Rd. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
