Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side the morning of Friday, August 11, 2023.  She was 96 years old.

 

Patricia was born June 27, 1927 in Grosse Pointe, MI to the late Leonard and Harriette (Abbott) Slowin.  Upon graduating from Grosse Pointe South High School, she attended Michigan State College earning a teaching certificate with a degree in history in 1949. While there, she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. At MSC she met Thomas Emmenecker and married in July 1950 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Detroit. Tom brought his bride to Saginaw where she lived ever since. 

 

Pat taught school in Imlay City and Carrolton, and later was a substitute teacher in Saginaw Township.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years, charter member of St. Stephen, church participating in church and school activities.  Pat started the Delta Zeta Alumni group in Saginaw and belonged to Questers, OLLI, and Assistance League.  Pat was an avid Michigan State supporter having had season tickets for basketball and football. Pat loved time at the family cottage on Higgins Lake with family and friends.  She and Tom enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and Europe

 

Pat enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, playing bridge, handiwork and spending time with her nine grandchildren. 

 

Left to cherish her memories are her three children, Daniel (Rebecca) of Bay City, Stephen (Jodi) of Novi, and Janis Hall of Rockford .Daughter in-law, JoAnn Cannata. Her grandchildren, Amber (Mike Salliotte), Matthew (Miranda), Sara (Dr. Stephen Hendriksen), Adam, Valerie (Richie Maciejewski), Daniel, David, Megan and Emily. Seven great-grandchildren, her sister, Martha Wallace.

 

Pat was predeceased by her husband, Tom, son Michael and son-in-law John Hall.

 

She was blessed with a long and happy life.  Her family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at New Hope for their care and support.

 

FUNERAL: The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from St. Dominic Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn Street, Saginaw, MI 48602.

 

VISITATION: Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy.

 

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please consider an expression of sympathy to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, 30400 Telegraph Rd, Suite 150, Bingham Farms, MI  48025 or your favorite Saginaw County charity.
