Mrs. Beck was my first grade teacher and one of the best teachers I ever had! I learned so much from her, but when she was gone for a few weeks and we had Ms. Farrell as a substitute, the lesson of being grateful was learned very quickly. I do believe I had my mom call to check on her well-being, admittedly for concern and out of dislike for the substitute lol. There was just no replacement for Mrs. Beck. I really wish I had known sooner of her passing and memorial service so I could have been there. I hope I am not confusing her love of this song with another teacher.
I love the flowers, I love the daffodils
I love the mountains, I love the rolling hills
And I love the fireside when the light is low
Boom-di-a-da, Boom-di-a-da, Boom-di-a-da, Boom
RIP Mrs. Beck

Mrs. Beck was my first grade teacher at Westdale Elementary. She was the perfect teacher full of warmth, compassion, and creativity. She left a positive, lifelong impression on me. Thirty or so years later, I joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. One Sunday they introduced all the new members during the service. Before communion, I saw a sharp dressed women a few pews in front of me. I thought to myself, “I hope I look that good when I’m her age”.
I had no idea she was my Mrs. Beck until I was sitting at coffee hour and that sharp dressed lady approached me and said, “Terri Perry! There can only be one Terri Perry who was my student.” I jumped up and said, “Oh my gosh, Mrs. Beck!” Then we hugged like no time had passed. I sure enjoyed seeing and talking to her after church for a few years before she moved to Alaska. Until we meet again, Mrs. Beck. Thank you for making our world a better place. I love you. You’re one and only, Terri Perry.

Oh, Mrs. Beck. Mrs. Beck was my 3rd grade teacher at Westdale. She was the first teacher I had when we moved into the township. She was my favorite elementary teacher. I remember her reading "James And The Giant Peach". There was this boy in our class who was a little slow and while she was reading he would be off in his own world. Crawling under the desks and what not. Not bothering anyone. I would join in with him and play. She didn't mind, she would let us play. Me and another one of her students would reminise about her. He remembered her saying that she was going to blow a head gasket and one day he brought one in, just in case she did, haha. I've often thought about her through the years. I also have ten offspring and 10 offshoots. I really wish that I could go to her memorial service, but I have to watch two of my offshoots that day. My condolences to Mrs. Beck's family. She really was an awesome person and teacher. I loved Mrs. Beck!
Sincerely, Kelly (Barnette) Bennett
