Obituary of Richard Eugene Midcalf
Our beloved father and grandfather Richard E Midcalf passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2023 at the age of 97.
Richard E Midcalf was born on October 23, 1925 to the late Theodore and Clara Midcalf. He married Corrinne Doran on January 19, 1957; she preceded him in death on June 20, 2011.
Richard worked for Pere Marquette/C&O/CSX Railroad from 1943 until retirement in 1986. He served in the US Army between 1950 and 1952 in the Korean War. He was very proud of his military service. Richard enjoyed playing his lottery numbers and talking with his friends at Faler Pharmacy, especially his buddy Kevin. He also liked going for car drives and taking train rides on his computer using You Tube. Richard loved his sports especially football. Word searches were a daily hobby thanks to the newspaper and an annual Christmas gift puzzle book from his granddaughter. Richard loved to eat and he especially loved sweets. He always had room for dessert.
Richard is survived by his children; Stephen A. (DeLynn) Midcalf, Catherine A. Midcalf (Roy Walker), Suzanne M. Midcalf (Michael Thomas); his beloved grandchildren; Alexandria Midcalf, Colin and Samantha Walker; sister Janet Ridgewell of Ft Pierce FL as well as many nieces and nephews
