Obituary of Rosa O. Flores
Flores, Rosa O.
Gilbert, AZ
Formerly of Saginaw, MI
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away on Monday evening, July 3, 2023 at Dignity Heath Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ, she was 94 years old. Rosa Olgine was born on March 22, 1929 in Boerne, Texas to the late Pedro and Carmen (San Miguel) Olgine. She married Edward “Walo” Flores on January 21, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2007. Rosa at the age of 13, drove a sugar beet truck and before the age of 20, she was a nurse’s aide. Prior to moving to Arizona, she was a member of St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Saginaw.
She loved to travel, her favorite places included Hawaii, Nevada, and Texas. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed cooking, trips to a local casino, word searches, watching TV (Western’s, Telenovela’s, and the Price is Right). She was an avid sports fan, never missing a University of Michigan Football game, either attending the game in person or watching it on TV. She enjoyed her daily Bible readings and was a devout Catholic. Rosa also enjoyed attending church services regularly until she was no longer able; but she never gave up and continued worshiping through televised church services. She had an amazing sense of humor, always with a smile even when she was suffering. She will be remembered for having a green thumb, growing many wonderful plants and beautiful roses. But, what Rosa really loved most was spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her eleven children, Tony (Judy) Olgine, Edward A (Leona) Flores, Gloria (John) Lumsden, Rita (Joseph) Jaime, Josephine (James) Delarosa, Ricardo Flores, Jesse (Olivia-Tina) Flores, Esther (Stephan) Anderson, Eduardo Mario (Cynthia) Flores; she raised two grandchildren as her own son and daughter, Daniel (Tina) Flores, and Francisca (Alex) Flores. She also leaves 41 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great- grandchildren; 3 sisters, Elvira Alvarez, Herminia DeHoyos, Alice (Charles) Garcia; many nieces and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by two daughters, Carmen Flores and Rose Ann Flores; one brother and eight sisters; Tiburcio Olgine, Benita Rendon, Amalia Vargas, Panchita Olgine, Rumalda Ortega, Francisca Olgine, Guadalupe Sanchez, Frances Benavidez, and Connie Medina.
