Obituary of Sharon Brown

Sharon Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born March 28, 1943 in Detroit, daughter of the late Edward and Mamie (Bojas) Matyas. After Sharon graduated from high school, she continued her education at Michigan State University earning her bachelor’s degree. She met the love of her life, Lee Alan Brown and the two were married March 3, 1973. He preceded her in death November 5, 2014.  In the early 90’s Sharon and Lee moved their family to Saginaw where she continued her career as a medical technologist. She began working for St. Mary’s new Ambulatory Care Center where she retired after 20 years of service. Sharon grew up in the Lutheran church and was most recently a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She had a great love of music and was known to participate in “Karaoke Night” at Wellspring while she lived there. Sharon always tried to keep active whether it was working or volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Always on the move, she could often be found bowling, golfing, or spending time in the garden.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Brown and Julie (Troy) Thorington; grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Thomas, and Meredith Brown; and two great grandchildren. Sharon is also survived by her siblings, Joan Rymas, Carl (Cheryl) Matyas, Joy (Joel) Wisniewski, Gail (Jay) Thomas, Kay Matyas, Ann (Dave) Wilkes, and John (Dawn) Matyas; sister-in-law, Barbara (Loren) Rozeboom; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Richard Rymas.

SERVICE: Memorial services will take place at 12 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State Street).

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
