Obituary of James M. Maul
Maul, James Michael "Jimmy”
Saginaw, Michigan
Father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his residence. He was 64 years old. James Michael Maul was born on February 2, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Jacob and Joyce (Flora) Maul. Jim graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1977. Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator and those that knew him would say he was one of the best bulldozer operators around.
Jim loved to golf, fish, and hunt. Whether it was riding motorcycles, four wheelers, or in his career as an operator, Jim loved to drive. He was a lover of animals, especially dogs. He rescued several abandoned, injured, or stray animals over the years. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his unique brand of animated storytelling and his great sense of humor.
After hurting his back in the late 90’s, an opioid prescription opened the door to his 20+ year battle with substance abuse and chronic pain. The disease of addiction took everything, until it took his life.
Surviving are his children, Christine (Ashley) Maul and Jacob (Megan) Maul; grandchildren, Rylie and Regan Maul; one sister, Jill Hill; two nieces, Jody Ogram and Stephanie (fiancée Andy Watrous) Hill; two great nephews, Jack Clement and Noah Hill, and many friends and extended family. James was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Maul, a nephew, Justin Hill, and his parents Jacob and Joyce (Flora) Maul.
If you are suffering from addiction, know that you are not alone and you are loved. For help call the 24 hour Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1(800) 662-4357.
