Marjory D. Loiacano of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home at the age of 91. She was born January 8, 1932 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Pretzer) Murphy. Marge grew up on the family farm on Frost Road where she helped tend the fields. She attended the one room Geddes school house before graduating from Saints Peter and Paul High School in 1949. Marge attended Central Michigan University for a short time to become a teacher before changing her mind. While working for Rio Truck Sales, she met her husband Sam J. Loiacano. The two were married on June 2, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock. He preceded her in death in 2018 after 67 years of marriage. 

While married she work as a secretary for St. Helen School, as a receptionist for Dr. Zwingman, Dr.Knowlton, and retired after working for Dr. Calcott. Marge was a woman of faith and was very active with St. Helen Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Helen Altar Society and was instrumental in starting the Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. After briefly living up north for a few years, Marge and Sam moved back to Saginaw and began attending Holy Spirit Catholic Church. While there, she was active in the prayer line and helped make food for funeral luncheons. Marge believed that cleanliness was next to Godliness and always appreciated having a tidy and orderly home. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Loiacano and Jane (Keith) Grantham; grandchildren, David (Megan) Loiacano Jr., Keith (Katie) Grantham II, Kent Grantham, Katrina (John) Masters, and Kellyn (Steve) Creel; great grandchildren, Holden and Hudson Loiacano, Keith Grantham III, Avery and Taylor Masters, and Landon Creel; brother, B. Patrick (Charlene) Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Sam, Marge was preceded in death by two children, Mary Margaret Loiacano and David Loiacano; as well as siblings, Kathleen Gilles, Marian Hughes, and John Murphy.

A very special “Thank You” to Christina Stonerock, caregiver and friend; who treated mom the same as she would treat her own mom.

FUNERAL: Funeral services for Marge will take place Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Saginaw, MI  48609 with Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny to officiate. Committal services to following in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd.(off State) from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil for the Deceased prayed at 6:00 p.m. And again Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
