Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle passed away with his loving wife by his side on Monday, February 6, 2023 at his residence. He was 93 years old. Charles Francis Malott was born on December 7, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Leonard P. and Margaret (Osterman) Malott. He married Ruth Skimin in 1948. Charles graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Charles owned and operated Malott Vending, retiring after 70 years of service.
Charles loved tending to his beautiful roses and spending time at his cottage on Higgins Lake. He also enjoyed coaching his children’s basketball teams at St. Stephens. Charles enjoyed attending this children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. But, what he really loved most was spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Malott; children, Mike Malott, Christine (Henry) Mattheis, Teri (Tom) Whitfield, Carol (Charlie) Humphrey, Chas Malott, Jeff Malott, Michelle (Jeff) Fisher, and Mindy (John) McLaughlin; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leonard, Jim, and Pat, and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his three sisters, Marge Dubay, Kate Vlassis, and Joan Schoen.
FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Rev. Fr. Prentice A. Tipton will officiate. Committal service to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Operation Smile or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
