Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw. She was 88 years old. Maria Angela Salazar was born on August 3, 1934 in Hidalgo, Texas to the Jesus Salazar and Maria Luisa Reina. She was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish for many years.

Maria loved dancing and listening to Mexican music. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and watching sports on TV. Maria also enjoyed cooking, shopping, and hosting parties. But, what Maria really loved most was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Lupe (Mike) Wood, Janie (Roy) Trevino, Danial Lopez Jr., Maria (Lionel Rodriguez) Lopez, Irma (Enrique Solis) Demski, Tony (Stacy) Lopez, and Amelia Lopez; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Valdez, and many nieces and nephews.

Maria was preceded in death by her sons, Jose (Eileen) Lopez and Pablo (Debra) Lopez; daughters in-law, Shelly Freel and Debbie Tuuri; parents, Antonio and Maria Luisa Gonzalez; brother in-law Jose Valdez; granddaughter Felicia Rojas; nephews, Hector Serna and Joe Valdez.

The Salazar family would like to thank the staff at Great Lakes Rehab for the compassionate and wonderful care they provided to Maria in her time of need.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Anthony of Padua site, 3680 S. Washington. Rev. Fr. Alberto Vargas will officiate. Committal service to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
