Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Albert M. Vega was born on January 14, 1938 in Saginaw to the late Jesusa (Verdusco) Vega. Al attended Arthur Hill Tech until he enlisted with the United States Marines. He proudly served his country from 1955-1958. Albert married the love of his life, Erma P. Gonzalez, on September 3, 1960, she survives him. Al continued his education at Delta College, where he studied to become an electrician. He worked for General Motors as an electrician from 1964 until his retirement in 1999. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local #699. Al was a sports enthusiast, he loved to golf, watch football and baseball. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Albert is survived by his wife Erma, together they have shared 62 wonderful years of making memories; their children: Albert Vega Jr., Debra Vega, Daniel Vega and Victor Vega; grandchildren: Amber (Rueben) Cirillo, Tory Martinez and Zachary Vega; great grandchildren: Paul Jr., Alizah, Gabriel and Mackenzie Trevino; sister, Marylou (Frank) Sanchez; sister-in-law, Mary Ochoa; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jesusa Ochoa; sister, Rebecca (Frank) Moreno; and brother, Luis Ochoa.
SERVICE: In keeping with Albert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral liturgy for Albert will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn Street, Saginaw MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Burial and military honors under the auspices of the United States Marines Corps and American Legion Post #22 will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
