Obituary of Joanna Swords

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away with family by her side on Thursday morning, April 21, 2022 at her home. She was 88 years old. Joanna Elizabeth Kohn was born on August 10, 1933 in Springfield, Ohio to the late James and Ada (Dunlap) Kohn. She married Karl Walter Swords on December 20, 1952 in Liberty, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2017.  Joanna was employed as an office manager, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a faithful and active member of Corner Stone Christian Center in Bridgeport for many years.

Joanna loved to laugh. She also enjoyed spending time designing floral arrangements at the greenhouse and flower shop that she and her husband owned. Above all, Joanna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Karl Joseph (Jeanette) Swords of Clio, Gail Lynne (Mitchell) Tremblay of Willow, Alaska and Terri Ruth (Edward) Edenburn of Montrose; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joanna was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Byce on April 13, 2017.

In keeping with Joanna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time.
