Our loved, honored and respected husband, father and grandfather Gerald Walter Hegenauer passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, January 3, 2022. Gerald was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 31, 1929. One of six children of the late Andrew Hegenauer and Clara Schuknecht-Hegenauer. He attended Arthur Hill High School, completed his Trades in Drafting and graduated in 1947.  On July 29, 1948 he traveled to Dearborn Michigan to serve our amazing country and enlisted in the United States Army. Sergeant Gerald W. Hegenauer was stationed in Germany and received the Army of Occupational Medal (Germany) and Good Conduct Medal. On May 6, 1952 in Fort Custer Michigan Gerald was Honorably Discharged.

Prior to serving our country dad worked for Saginaw Glass Company through Glazier Apprentice. When he returned from Germany he worked for A & P, Baker Perkins and Lufkin Rule. In 1961, he went to New York for employment for a short period of time. Then in 1963 he started  his long-term career with General Motors at Nodular Foundry and later went to GM Truck and Bus.

Dad was so proud of his family history. The Hegenauer family owned a 80 acre farm in the heart of Saginaw Township. Which later became the Wolverine Golf Course.

On Labor Day Weekend in 1960 Gerald met Patricia for the first time. He knew Patricia would be the love of his life and on May 25, 1963 they were united in marriage at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Patricia passed on March 14, 2021. Now they are together again.
