Obituary of Mary Mae Vertacnik
Vertacnik, Mary Mae age 79, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper Saginaw, Michigan. Mary was born in Fairborn, Ohio on June 12, 1942 the daughter of Harley and Mae Wintersteen. She was united in marriage to John Vertacnik on October 5, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio; he survives her.
Mary was a longtime member of St. Dominic’s Church, St. Stephens Parish. She also was a longtime cancer survivor (1996) and member of her cancer support group. Mary loved watching baseball and traveling all over the states seeing new places and visiting some casinos on the way. But most of all Mary was a very caring and thoughtful person. She would always think of others before herself. She will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her husband John, son; Peter (Kim) Vertacnik, sister in-law; Anne (John) Cowie and a few nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by 3 siblings.
FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy for Mary will take place on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM from St. Dominic Catholic Church, St. Stephen’s Parish, 1310 Malzahn St. Saginaw, MI 48602 with Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit to officiate. Interment to following St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
