AGNEW, Norma Jean

Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Sylvester Assisted Living. She was 93 years old.

Norma Jean Young was born on August 7, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Aubrey and Clara (Miller) Young. She married Dale F. Agnew on May 22, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2012. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving as the bazaar coordinator for several years. Norma also worked for Lufkin Rule, Kochville Township Water Department and Agnew Construction, where she was the bookkeeper for the family business. She loved boating at her cottage in Lewiston with family and friends, and being able to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Norma enjoyed knitting and she made Christmas stockings for the grandchildren, great grandchildren, many extended family and friends. She also loved spending time in her garden and would can much of her harvest.

Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kris (Sandra) Agnew; two grandchildren, Lindsey (Thad) Wolfram and Tyler (Jenna Priem) Agnew; five great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Zoey and Jeralyn Wolfram and Marlee and Reed Agnew; brother-in-law, Albert Trautner; many loving nieces and nephews.

Norma’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Norma’s niece, Jill Loftus. It is because of Jill, Norma had the opportunity to spend many years living independently at home and has been a rock to the Agnew family. Also to Theresa Blohm (Norma’s caregiver while she was independent at home), and Michelle and Mellissa at Sylvester Assisted Living for the compassionate care given to Norma during the last few months. Also to Jeff Rauschert for his visits, spiritual care and prayers.
