Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her residence, she was 88 years old. Joan Patricia Gilbaga was born on January 10, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Joseph and Victoria Gilbaga. She married William J. Hughes on February 9, 1957 in Indiana. Joan was employed at Sunshine Biscuit Company in her younger years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years.

She loved camping all over northern Michigan especially in Harrison. Joan also enjoyed cooking and was known for keeping a clean and tidy house. But, what she really loved most was spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Michelle (Jerry) Farnum and Lisa (Troy) Kaiser; four grandchildren, Brandon (Rebecca), Samantha, Amanda (Stefan), and Alexa (Alex); great-grandchildren, Deakon, Dashiel, Wren, Jaxson, and Hudson, and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Hughes; siblings; Florence, Marge, and Harold.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will plan a gathering at a later date.
