Obituary of Lawrence Eugene Dorey

Dorey, Lawrence “Larry” Eugene age 80 passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper. Larry was born April 20, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Lawrence and Helen (Stelter) Dorey. He honorably served his country in the United States Marines. Larry was united in marriage to the former Sharon Ballentine on July 2, 1994 in Bridgeport, Michigan; she preceded him in death on February 3, 2021.

Larry retired from General Motors after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Marine CORPS Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose-82 of Saginaw. Larry enjoyed being outdoors; whether it’s boating, hunting or going for longs rides with Sharon up north seeing the color changes. He and Sharon also enjoyed going on bus tours with friends to their favorite Casinos.

Larry is survived by his children; Kevin Dorey, Steve (Amy) Dorey and Brian (Jody) Dorey, step-daughter; Sallie (Roger) Mejia, grandchildren; Allyssa, Trent, Ian, Mason Terry Kirstyn, Josh, Brianna and Lauren, brother; Mike (Cathy) Dorey and mother of his children; Yvonne Dorey. Besides his parents and wife, Sharon, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers; Jerry and Robert and a sister, Janet.

FUNERAL: A Memorial Service for Larry is being planned for Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. Saginaw, MI  48603. Full Military honors conducted by the United States Marine CORP and the American Legion #439 following the memorial service.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to welcome to gather at Deisler Funeral Home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
