Obituary of Christina Maria Yañez

Loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend passed on Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021 at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. She was 57 years old. Christina Marie Yañez was born May 21, 1964 in Saginaw, Michigan to Leonardo and Elvira (Gallardo) Yañez. She attended Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw; she furthered her education at the University of Michigan in Flint, earning a bachelor’s degree. Tina was employed by St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, retiring after 16 years of service. She loved animals and was a supporter of the ASPCA for many years.

Growing up, she danced ballet Cultural Aztec. Tina was a history movie buff and a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers. She loved to read and enjoyed scrapbooking in her spare time. But, what she really loved most was spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Kaela (Albert) Jimenez, Juliano Huerta, Angelique (Benjamin) Huerta-Niewolak, Jordan Huerta, and Jayde Huerta; grandchild, Arlo Jimenez; father, Leonard Yañez; brother, Leo (Norma) Yañez; nieces and nephews, Cassandra Rupp, Vanessa Bruce, Francesca Lopez, and Caleb Yañez; extended family, Roberto Huerta and Maria Ornelas.

Tina was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Elvira Yañez.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Frank Gallardo will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at        4:00 p.m.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the ASPCA.
