Obituary of Katherine L. Stanulis

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Medilodge of Frankenmuth. Katherine was 83 years old. Katherine was born on November 28, 1937 in Saginaw the daughter of Harry V. and Agnes O. (Letherer) Lawler. She was united in marriage to Joseph Stanulis, Jr. on October 26, 1957; he preceded her in death on December 4, 2020.

Katherine was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Saginaw Culture Club, Tai Chi Club and the Moose Lodge #82. She was the former owner of the Saturday Shop. Katherine loved antiques. But most of all she dedicated her life to her family; they meant the world to her. She will be missed dearly.

Katherine was survived by two daughters and two sons, Laura E. Johnson of Saginaw, Joseph M. (Lin) Stanulis of Freeland, Mark V. (Lori) Stanulis of Vassar and Katherine M. Penny of Bloomfield Hills; grandchildren, Katherine (Tyler) Blair, Anthony Johnson, Jessica Stanulis, Ashley Stanulis, Joseph (Ngan) Stanulis, Jacob Stanulis and Nathan Penny; and three great grandsons, Hue Blair, Vincent Ka’aumoana and Leon Stanulis; four sisters, Collen Schultz, Shelia Schultz, Jacqueline Wiltse and Muriel Lawler. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Joseph, Katherine was preceded in death by her son, Steven M. Stanulis, and three sisters and one brother, Mary Hazzard, Nancy Edlinger, Carol Weslock and Jerome Lawler.

FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM from Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. Saginaw, Michigan  48601 with Rev. Fr. Thai H. Nguyen with Deacon Rodger Pasionek, P.A. Interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit Deisler Funeral Home 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a prayer service to take place at 7:00 PM. Visitation to continue at the church Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
