Obituary of Margaret M Smekar

Smekar, Margaret M. age 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield, Michigan with family by her side. Margaret was born March 9, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan the daughter of the late Edward and Adrienne (Clement) Solinski. Margaret was united in marriage to Frank J. Smekar on February 2, 1963 in Bay City, Michigan.

Margaret co-owned and operated Creative Display Installation with her husband. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church; where she served in many different ministries. Margaret found her true calling serving Christ as a lay minister, which included ministering and supporting communion services to the residents at Shattuck Manor and McBright Manor Assisted Living. Margaret loved knitting; especially prayer shawls. She loved hosting get-togethers and just having people around and sharing stories. Margaret will be dearly missed.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Frank Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth Snowbarger; brothers and twin sister, Mary Solinski Dalton, Michael (Dawn) Solinski, Tom Solinski, John (Lydia) Solinski, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two children, Stefan and Frank Jr.

FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy for Margaret will take place on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM from St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603 with Rev. Fr. William J. Rutkowski to officiate. Cremation to follow with inurnment in St. Andrews Cemetery.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State) with a Vigil service at 7:30 PM. And again Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
