JORDAN, Nancy J. of Saginaw, Michigan, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Cartwright Hospice residence; surrounded by her children. She was 78 years old. Nancy J. Hacker was born on November 12, 1934 in Saginaw to the late Harold Hacker and Maynard and Amy (Schultz) Dobbs. She married the love of her life, Daniel K. Jordan on July 10, 1954; he preceded her in death on September 20, 1979. Nancy graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1952 where she has remained a proud alumni. She honorably served her country in the Women's Army Corp during the Korean War. For the majority of her life, Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Prior to having children she worked in the travel industry. Nancy also worked for the Reyes Syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She later settled in as office manager at the family business, Barrett Sign working up to her death. She will be missed fondly by the employees at Barrett Sign, where in addition to other duties she was known as the official birthday cake buyer. Nancy was an avid cook and an exceptional baker. She marveled in the intricacies of Nature, often making her children watch ants carry potato chips and flowers popping through the snow. Nancy truly loved all things, including her children, grandson and especially her animals. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and the occasional very mild seven and seven. Surviving are a son and daughter: Steve Jordan of Saginaw and Danielle (Kevin) Jordan Nelson of Saginaw; one grandson, Evan Jordan of Saginaw; daughters of the heart, Sheri Short of Saginaw, (and her daughters: Megan and Jenna) and Debbie Jordan of Portland Maine; two brothers: Dave (Vera) Dobbs of Scarborough, Maine and Russell Dobbs of Hemlock. Also surviving are various relatives including the Coates Family, especially aunt, Marjorie-deceased and the LaPorte Family, especially Tiger and Renee; and three very special friends: Donna, Sally and Nancy (deceased). She was preceded in death by a sister, MaryAnn Davis. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
