Obituary of Kathaleen E. Nichol

NICHOL, Kathaleen E. of Saginaw Township, Michigan passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was 69 years old. Kathaleen E. Leitch was born on February 16, 1943 in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Archie and Letta May (Harder) Leitch. She married Sayre Nichol on November 3, 1963. Kathaleen graduate from Bad Axe High School with the Class of 1961.
She had a trucking business with her husband for the last 49 years and has had varied titles in the business. She had been an avid photographer for years, with her own camera business, doing freelance photography—she specialized in celebrity photos and became a member of the World Wide Who's Who of Photography in 1994. She was also the moderator of Lake Huron Presbyterian Woman and had held almost all of the offices. At her time of death she was the historian for Lake Huron P.W. Volunteer programs at Second Presbyterian Church, a member of the Synod of the Covenant Nominating Committees (with near perfect attendance for both, only missing one gathering since 1976), a member and treasurer of Church Women United of Saginaw County, and a matron of Bay Chapter #219 of Bay City Order of the Eastern Star. Further, she has done extensive volunteering in and around Saginaw for the following programs: The Red Hat Society, Saginaw Task Force against Neighborhood Decline, Neighborhood Watch Programs, Saginaw City/Landlord Legion Committee, Project Hope, Saginaw Community Village Concept, Saginaw Community Police Program, DARE Program, Crime Stoppers, City Wide Clean Up, Saginaw Race Relations Forum, and City Wide Picnic four consecutive years.
Surviving are husband of 50 years, Sayre; three sons, Michael Nichol, Thomas and wife, Laura Nichol, and Todd Nichol; five grandchildren, Kayley, Zackery, Rachael, Brittney, and Cassie; three sisters, Elizabeth Leitch, Margaret Leitch, Carol and husband, Steven Shamka, and Kristina Leitch; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kathaleen was preceded in death her parents and brother, Malcom Leitch.
FUNERAL: A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Road, Saginaw, 48603, with honors conducted by the Bay Chapter #219 Order of the Eastern Star. Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Bay Chapter #219 Order of the Eastern Star, Precinct 131 or Second Presbyterian Church Missions.
